When a young ring bearer accidentally lost the rings in the grass, the guests joined the search before the ceremony could continue.

About Maria
Maria Todzia Aird has been an authorized marriage commissioner in Alberta since 2009 and has performed more than 2,000 wedding ceremonies.
Her approach is simple: make the ceremony about the couple, not about the person performing it.
Maria is professional, friendly, approachable and informative. She is known for being flexible, calm and prepared, while still making ceremonies feel warm and personal.
She has decades of experience working in the wedding industry and has been part of celebrations of every size and style.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do you perform weddings?
Maria is based in Edmonton and is available for weddings throughout Alberta by request.
Can we personalize our ceremony?
Absolutely. Couples can choose their own vows, readings, music, poems, acknowledgements and other meaningful elements.
Can we write our own vows?
Yes. Couples are welcome to write their own vows, and Maria can also help if you would like guidance.
Can we include prayer?
Yes. Religious elements such as appropriate prayer may be incorporated into a civil ceremony. Maria does not perform religious ceremonies as a priest, imam or other clergy member.
Do you perform rehearsals?
Yes. Rehearsals can be arranged for couples who would like everyone to walk through the ceremony beforehand.
Can you perform Polish weddings?
Yes. Maria speaks fluent Polish and can perform Polish-only or bilingual Polish-English ceremonies.
Can you perform outdoor weddings?
Yes. Maria has performed ceremonies in parks, backyards, beaches, lakeside locations, acreages and many other outdoor settings.
Can you be our reception MC?
No. Alberta marriage commissioners are not permitted to act as reception MCs.

Maria speaks fluent Polish and has performed more than 75 Polish weddings, including ceremonies conducted entirely in Polish as well as bilingual Polish-English ceremonies.
She can communicate directly with Polish-speaking parents and grandparents and can help incorporate meaningful Polish customs and traditions into the ceremony.
